Acharn 6MWe biomass CHP plant
Located in Central Scotland near Killin, Perthshire, the Acharn project will comprise an advanced gasification combined heat & power (“CHP”) plant totalling 6MWe in capacity. Fuel supply will be provided from the surrounding catchment by established suppliers in the form of locally sourced virgin biomass that will be chipped and dried on site.
Expected to generate 44.65 GWh each year, the site will be able to power 13,530 homes. This biomass project will offset a considerable amount of CO2, 21,889 tonnes, the carbon footprint of 4,864 average UK homes.
The construction and then operations and maintenance of the plant are expected to generate a number of direct full time jobs.
Expected completion is spring 2019.
